Spotted for sale at Lee-Jackson Militaria, a pretty cool looking old soldier’s notebook. I’m not sure if this is from World War II or earlier.

The listing doesn’t say.
This is known as a guntai techou, basically the Japanese soldier’s service booklet. Every soldier in the Imperial Japanese Army received one. Contents include words from the emperor (as well as from Hideki Tojo for those examples from WW2), as well as the individual soldier’s information like past occupation, education, medals awarded, unit(s) joined, campaigns fought, and sometimes where he was wounded. Endlessly interesting to study. The one pictured is most likely from WW2 due to the coloring of the cover.
The owner of this army notebook is “Masayoshi Gakiya(我喜屋æ£ç¾©ï¼‰”.
He is from Okinawa, Japan.
