It’s fun to review notebook products that are a little outside what I normally use, so I’m grateful to the makers of Off.Lines for sending me these free samples:

Off.Lines is designed to be a handy system for “capturing thoughts and ideas on the go for later processing.” Each notepad is small enough to slip into almost any pocket, and individual sheets can be removed and added. An elastic holds the sheets into the cover, gripping them securely via a notch on each side on the paper.

I received two versions:

The black leather notepad comes in a gifty box, with replacement pads underneath. The cover is wonderfully soft and supple. It has a card pocket and a loop for a mini pen, though attaching a pen might make it a little awkward to slip in and out of your pocket. The paper size is A7, 7.4 x 10.5 cm (2 7/8 x 4 1/8″)

I also received a basic version with a brown cardboard cover, in a larger size of 9 x 13cm (3 1/2 x 5 1/16″), which should still fit in most back pockets or shirt pockets. The cardboard is flexible and seems sturdy enough to hold up to longer use when the notebook is refilled.

The 90 GSM paper is a bright white, and although there was a little feathering with fountain pens, bleed-through was better than average (and might not matter to most users anyway, as the system isn’t really designed for extensive writing on both sides of the page). The sample page is shown next to a Hobonichi Techo page for comparison.
