This notebook was a gift from a friend who visited Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam several years ago. I’m not sure which of those countries it was purchased in.
I’m sorry to say this kind of notebook gift always makes me a little sad! People who know me well are aware that I’m always scribbling things in notebooks, so sometimes they give me notebooks as gifts, which is very thoughtful. But these well-meaning gifts are often notebooks that I would never use… like this one.
It’s made of what I would guess is handmade paper, with bits of flowers and leaves in it. The decorative binding is attractive, but makes it hard to open the notebook flat. The paper is very soft and textured. I haven’t tested any pens on it but I can’t imagine using my favorite pens on something this rough and fibrous. I would imagine that it might be nice with ink and a brush, or maybe some watercolors. It would also make a nice little scrapbook.
Since I’m never going to use this notebook, I’d like to find it a new home with someone who will appreciate it more than I do! So please enter the giveaway if you would like a chance at winning this notebook!
