Lots of news from Moleskine lately– Evernote partnership, going public on the Milan stock exchange, and now custom printed photo books. It’s a great idea– if you love the look of a Moleskine, you’ll love having a photo album with the same design. A 20-page photo book costs $37.50, which doesn’t seem bad, though I can’t say I’ve researched other competing photo books. It’s not clear what the full range of products will be– 4 sizes are mentioned, but only two are available for pre-order now. I personally would love to order a photo book in the pocket size, but I’m not sure that will be an option. And I’m not sure what the difference is between a “Photo Book” and a “Photo Album.” I’m sure all will be revealed soon… meanwhile, I’m still waiting for those black page notebooks to hit stores! Those will look great with photos in them too.

I thought I was over molies but this is a product I might actually buy. The 6o-page Plus model comes with a slipcase, ooooh, at about $100 (intro pricing now at $80).
But there are dozens of custom photo books on the market. This is Apple’s price list if you push the button directly inside iPhoto:
Hardcover Books: XL L
Sizes 13×10 inches 11×8.5 inches
Pages 20 pages 20 pages
Price $49.99 $29.99
I’ve seen prices as low as half of what Apple wants.
Whoa.
Those are incredibly expensive.
