I’d never heard of the band Snow Patrol— does this mean I’m hopelessly uncool and out of it? But anyway, their lead signer, Gary Lightbody, is a notebook user:
As for his own lyrics, he keeps notebooks full of them. “Bad, bad words. The day I die I hope those notebooks are incinerated. Some of them are just awful. Even some of the ones that ended up on the albums are awful.â€
Another universal notebook issue, I think: you know they’re full of crap and you’d be embarrassed for anyone to read them, yet you can’t get rid of them!

I wrote a poem about my old notebooks recently…
I like Snow Patrol. They did that song “Chasing Cars” a while back. How many years ago was that? Two? I’m so old…
Anywho, I go back and read my old notebooks about once a year. I could NEVER destroy them, but my friend Jenni and I have a pact that if either of us were to die (god forbid), the other (barring the fact that we’re together) would destroy the deceased’s notebooks before ANYONE had a chance to read them.
you definitely should listen to Snow Patrol, they have some really good songs
I’m way over 40 and I really like Snow Patrol. They are one of the few bands of the current scene that actually have a distinct sound – not the usual generic radio crap from those kids with floppy hair and eyeliner.
Two songs especially: “Shut Your Eyes” and “Take Back the City”.
Oh and I looked them up – they’ve been around since 1994. Wow.
Chasing Cars is 5 years old this year, srsly. It’s enough to make anyone feel old.
