I recently came across this interesting interview. with a therapist who talks a lot about dream analysis. Here’s my favorite part:
“Dream recall improves if you write them down in the morning. I have been keeping track of my dreams for 25 years and have filled dozens of notebooks.â€
I have an old 2001 Moleskine Daily Planner that I’ve been using to jot down dreams for several years now– it’s fun to read back through it and rediscover some really bizarre old dreams that I don’t even remember now. Do you keep a dream journal?
I used to keep a dream journal, but I think it only lasted for a couple of weeks. Usually, by the time the alarm goes off my dreams are already slipping away faster than I can remember them. Still, I would like to possibly begin a new dream journal in the future. (Not that I really need to be keeping yet another journal :)
I began my dream journal when I started to remember vivid dreams as a result of taking a medication. I don’t recall as much as often but I still maintain it. It’s at http://www.slywy.com/pdfs/dream-journal.pdf (2.4 meg download because I haven’t mastered .odt to .pdf yet).
When I remember them I write them down.
They’re scattered amongst whatever journal I’m keeping at the moment, but I’m tempted to go back through and write them down in one special journal. Even if it is repeated information I’ll have all the information in one location.
I used to keep a dream journal – tho I called it a dream log – but I had to stop when I realized how weird my dreams were. Might be interesting to take another bash at it, tho.
I used to keep a dream journal but then was put on some medication that affected my sleep and stopped having dreams! darn it!
