Director of Social Media at Moleskine
This temp-to-perm (Jan 2010) position is a newly created one for Moleskine (www.moleskine.com).
The company’s community is constantly growing and evolving with a unique ability to live harmoniously in both analog and digital environments. This position has been created to support the growing communications needs online and to maximize global brand tools and resources that permit connectivity with brand fans worldwide. The Director of Social Media is focused on building and developing the main consumer-facing site and the social network in a manner that is consistent with the brand and supportive of various global initiatives and brand equity projects. He or she will serve as the community advocate, brand ambassador and a consistent point of contact for the consumer audience in America. The goal isn’t for this person to control the community, but to curate it.
This person will be a strategic lead in strengthening the existing online brand communities as well as developing innovative new ways to interact with our audience. Responsible for setting the tone for the community experience, this individual must be patient, well spoken, enthusiastic, and well-informed of company initiatives worldwide. It will be crucial for the Director of Social Media to create and maintain meaningful and regular contact with (primarily email and phone with occasional travel to) the company offices in Italy in order to align his or her strategic concepts with the overall web strategy for the brand worldwide.
Beyond having on-line marketing knowledge and strong communication skills, the Director of Social Media must have an understanding of technology trends and social media tools. He or she will constantly facilitate input and feedback, whether it be within the global company or within the community.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Manage and supervise the company website, its calendar and initiatives
o Moderate and manage existing community resources, providing guidance, support and creativity on a daily basis
o Encourage member participation with daily posts and direct interaction
o Proactively improve the community with new initiatives
o Identify and nurture relationships with most active community members in order to encourage their further involvement and reward them for their participation, awarding them for serving as brand ambassadors
o Create and manage resource guide and tutorials to help members (both internal and external) utilize community features
o Communicate with influential sites, blogs, and other online communities to develop positive brand relationships, promote content, and drive traffic
o Manage and distribute content for e-newsletters or global online outreach
o Continuously track/mine user-generated content for valuable feedback and suggestions, relay that information to the appropriate corporate teams
o Continuously monitor technology developments and make recommendations on implementing new social media tools; monitor internal and external Web sites and facilitating discussions when relevant, utilizing existing web analytics software and appending existing data.
o Create an effective content development strategy and manage existing tools such as Google Groups, FLICKR, and Facebook
o Develop, implement and maintenance all brand equity and marketing activities and budget for the North American market
o Actively contribute to brand equity and marketing strategy plans in international markets
o Manage all aspects of outside agency and vendor relationships, including RPF processes, contract negotiations, budgets, and project management
SkillsWE ARE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WITH:
o A background in online social media and community building, marketing, publicity, and design are extremely helpful for this position.
o Analytical skills and familiarity with various measurement tools to track traffic and engagement statistics as a result of our outreach efforts.
o Strong online research and general computer skills are essential, as well as an understanding of online marketing and publicity tools such as blogs, online advertising, and social networking platforms.
o Excellent communication skills, both oral and written in order to interface with our internal and external community members.
o Intermediate to advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel and Office.
o Strong organization skills and a proven ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritize. Must demonstrate self-initiative and management skills.
o Knowledge of Italian is a plus, but is not required.
